Endicott’s Hot Start Buries Eastern Nazarene, 85-45

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's basketball team raced out to a 27-0 lead over the opening 9:08 of the contest en route to an 85-45 conference victory over Eastern Nazarene on Saturday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) led the charge during the Gulls' 27-0 run with five straight three-pointers (5-for-5) after Joel Villa's (Bronx, N.Y.) game-opening layup at the 18:36 mark and then the rest of the matchup was a wash. 

McDevitt finished with 19 points (6-for-8 FG, 6-for-7 3PT, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, and one block, while Villa compiled eight points, two rebounds, a game-high four steals, and one assist. 

Endicott also saw Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) contributed 16 points and Jordan Pettway (Bridgeport, Conn.) had 10 points off the bench in 15 minutes. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott led by as many as 49 points (85-36) with 2:56 remaining in the game.
  • The Gulls bench scored 40 of their 85 points.
  • Endicott notched 22 points off of turnovers and also held a 15-2 margin on the fast break.
  • The Gulls are 23-10 in the all-time series versus Eastern Nazarene. 

FOR THE FOES

  • David Lopez (Miami, Fla.) and Josh Rice (Hanson, Mass.) tied for the team-lead in points with nine apiece.
  • Robbion Harris (Steilacoom, Wash.) chipped in with five points, three rebounds, one block, and three steals.

Endicott (15-6, 10-4 CCC) hosts crosstown rival Gordon College on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:30 PM. Eastern Nazarene (7-14, 3-11 CCC) welcomes Roger Williams to its campus next Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
