The Endicott Men's basketball team traveled to Danvers high school on Saturday, December 11th to conduct a basketball clinic for the Danvers Youth Program. The youth program is headed by Danvers head basketball coach Mark Malley. The youth league is called Hot Shots and includes 150 participants. Youths from third to eighth grade participated.
Senior Josh Oxton started the program by instructing the young basketball players for the fundamentals of dribbling the ball. Each youth then handled the ball against a member of the Endicott baskeball team. From there the participants were split up into groups where they worked on different fundamentals of basketball including passing, shooting, defense and ballhandling.
Senior Carlos Nunez got the youngsters going at his defensive station helping them learn the beginning fundamentals of defense. Sophomore Nemanja Marinkovic and Juniors Matt George and Zach Ellis helped the young players learn how to correctly complete a pass.
Endicott will host a Hot Shots day at one of their home games in January. At this time the participants in Hot Shots will be invited to view the game and participate at half time.
