Endicott Records Second Straight Overtime Victory

Dec. 12, 2003

After a sluggish start Endicott College rallied to defeat WPI in overtime 62-59. Endicott trailed by 10 points, 51-41, with 8:22 remaining in the game but stormed back with great defensive effort as they went on a 11-0 run to pull ahead 52-51 with 5:18 remaining. Matt George contributed 6 points in the run as Josh Oxton and Zach Ellis were able to find him in transition after forcing WPI to turn the ball over.

From there it was back and forth as WPI scored with 1 minute to go in the game to tie the score at 55 all. WPI harrassed Endicott all night forcing turnovers and disrupting Endicott's offense. In the overtime, however, Endicott had more success running their offense and capitilized on the inside play of Josh Oxton, Jeremy Currier and Nemanja Marinkovic. All were able to score on inside moves as Endicott was able to free itself for inside hoops.

With Endicott leading by three, WPI called a time out with 18.7 seconds left to diagram a possible three point play. Matt George and Chris Lacasse forced Ryan Cain into the back court as the ball became loose. WPI gathered the ball and were able to find Brett Dickson open in the corner for what looked like a potential tying three point shot. Nemanja Marinkovic came from under the basket and blocked the shot. Carlos Nunez secured the rebound and Endicott escaped with it's fourth win of the season.

Endicott(4-2) was led by Matt George's 26 points and 5 steals. Nemanja Marinkovic chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds. WPI(4-2) had three players score double figures. WPI was led by Scott Misiaszek's 14 points and 9 rebounds.

Endicott now plays at home Sunday at 1pm versus league rival Curry College. This is a makeup of the December 6th cancellation due to snow.
