CCC CHAMPIONS: Endicott Takes Down The University of New England 3-2 To Win Back To Back Titles

BEVERLY, Mass. — Tied 2-2 with just over three minutes remaining in regulation Addi Williams (Pittsfield Maine) put home a rebound to lift Endicott past The University of New England, 3-2, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship.

The Gulls got off to a quick 2-0 lead in the contest after receiving goals from Blake Braman (Clinton, Conn.) and Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.) in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Lindsay Bruns (Belfast, Maine) scored twice for the Nor'easters, once in the first quarter cutting the Gulls lead in half (2-1), and once early in the fourth quarter tying the game at two.

Throughout the course of the game, Endicott outshot UNE, 23-13, and lead the Noreasters in penalty corners, 10-6. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott leads the all-time series over UNE 18-15 and has now won six straight over the Nor'easters.

  • In the past six years, Endicott and UNE have each won three CCC titles.

  • Abby Carter (Richmond, Vt.) was credited with an assist on Braman's goal, and Emily Graham (Westford, Mass.) made a key defensive save in the first quarter.

  • The senior class of Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.), Julie Champigny (Acton, Mass.), and Graham now have two CCC titles.  

  • This is Endicott's fourth CCC title, all of which have come under head coach Jodi Cipolla who is in year 13 at the helm.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (18-4) has secured a berth into the NCAA DIII Field Hockey Tournament. UNE (12-10) sees their season come to a close. The Gulls find out who they will play through a press release which will be released by the NCAA on Sunday evening.
