Poulin's Two Goals Lead Endicott Over UNE, 2-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) scored two goals to lead the Endicott field hockey team to a 2-0 victory over the University of New England (UNE) on Tuesday night at North Field.

With just over four minutes left in the first half, Lily Smith (Middlebury, VT.) inserted a corner to Abby Carter (Richmond, VT.) who moved the ball over to Poulin, Poulin took the pass and slotted into the back of the cage to give Endicott a 1-0 lead. 

Meanwhile, with just seconds remaining in the half, Endicott goaltender Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass) made a sprawling save moving to her left to keep the Endicott lead at 1-0 going into halftime.

Then, midway through the fourth quarter, Poulin gave the Gulls their insurance goal, getting on the end of a beautiful lead pass from Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) and putting it home to give the Gulls a 2-0 lead.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Emily Graham (Westford, Mass.) made two defensive saves to aid the Gulls' shutout.
  • With her two goals tonight, Poulin set a new single-season mark in goals with 12.
  • With the win tonight the Gulls now have a 17-15 advantage over the Nor'easters.
  • Endicott has now won five straight over UNE.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (13-4, 9-0 CCC) will travel to Roger Williams for a conference matchup starting at 1 PM. UNE (9-8, 8-2 CCC) travels to Salve Regina for a conference game starting at 12 PM.
