Amherst Blanks Endicott, 3-0

AMHERST, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team lost to Amherst College, 3-0, on Tuesday night in non-conference action at Gooding Field.

Tied 0-0 after the first quarter of play, Amherst found the back of the cage twice in the second via goals from Natalie Hobbs (Wilmington, Del.) and Laura Schwartzman (Darien, Conn.), respectively, and never looked back.

Hobbs buried her third goal of the season at the 19:22 mark, while Schwartzman notched her second of the year at 26:49. Beth Williamson (Greenwich, Conn.) also added her fourth goal of the season at 47:46 of the fourth to round out the scoring.

Meanwhile, for Endicott, junior goalie Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) made a game-high eight saves in the loss.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Both Endicott and Amherst are receiving votes in the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division III National Coaches Poll.
  • With tonight's win, Amherst improved to 2-1 overall at home this season.
  • All three of the Mammoths' victories this year have come against non-conference opponents (Mount Holyoke, Keene State, Endicott).
  • On the flip side, both of Amherst's losses in 2019 have occurred against two nationally ranked conference opponents in No. 15 Bowdoin (2-1, OT) and No. 19 Hamilton (4-1).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (3-3) hosts conference foe Salve Regina on Thursday, September 19 at 7 PM. Amherst (3-2) welcomes Connecticut College to its campus on Saturday, September 21 at 12 PM.
