BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team hosted Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday night for the first round of the NCAA Tournament and the Gulls came away with a 3-1 victory.

Just 47 seconds into the contest, Endicott took the early 1-0 lead when Blake Braman (Clinton, Conn.) sent a cross to Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.) who tipped the ball in at the left post.

The Gulls continued to pressure offensively through the remainder of the first half and were rewarded with two goals from Addi Williams (Pittsfield, Maine) to extend the lead to 3-0.

Saint Joseph's came out of halftime looking to break the shutout and did just that less than four minutes into the frame. Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) deflected a hard pass from Kylee Veilleux (Sabattus, Maine) to cut the deficit to 3-1.

With time winding down, the Gulls almost saw another tally but Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) made an impressive split save to stop the Endicott offense.
