AMHERST, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team was handed a 4-1 loss at #9 Amherst College on Thursday night.
Just over nine minutes into the contest, Emily Hirtle (Rowley, Mass.) tallied her fourth goal of the season to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead.
The Mammoths' Katie Bargamesca (McLean, Va.) responded two minutes later to even the score at 1-1, before Mary Grace Cronin (Arlington, Mass.) gave Amherst the 2-1 lead with her third tally of the year.
With time winding down in the first half, Kendall Codey (Summit, N.J.) added a third goal for the Mammoths on a corner insertion from Cronin.
Securing the 4-1 victory for Amherst was Emery Sorvino (New Vernon, N.J.), who scored at the 62:38 mark.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) recorded seven saves for the Gulls.
FOR THE FOES
- Emilie Flamme (Harding, N.J.) made three saves for the Mammoths.
- Amherst outshot Endicott, 20-5.
- The Mammoths were ranked ninth in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll.

Endicott (5-2, 2-0 CCC) travels to Salve Regina on Saturday, September 23 at 1 p.m. Amherst (4-1, 1-1 NESCAC) is on the road at Williams on Saturday, September 23 at 11 a.m.
