Beverly, MA - After spending more than a month in first place in the CCC, the Endicott field hockey team lost to second place New England College in the Championship match on Saturday. It was the second time in two years that these teams have matched up in the CCC final, and the second time that NEC has claimed victory.
CCC Rookie of the Year, Brittney Vogrin scored both first-half goals for the Pilgrims, her second coming with just 00:14 seconds remaining.
The lone goal in the second half came on a stroke taken by Lindsey Inman against EC keeper Erin Curry (Fr/East Hampstead, NH). The penalty came just 4 minutes into the second half, making the score 3-0. The Gulls defense held NEC scoreless the rest of the match.
The Gulls will play in post-season ECAC action on Wednesday at Springfield College.
