Kalosky Earns Gold Helmet Award For New England Bowl Performance

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College senior quarterback Joe Kalosky (Plymouth, Conn.) has earned the New England Football Writers Association (NEFWA) Gold Helmet Award for NCAA Divisions II and III for his efforts in the Gulls' 52-10 win over Dean College in last weekend's New England Bowl.

The NEFWA Gold Helmet Award is presented by the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame. Kalosky will receive his Gold Helmet Award at the annual NEFWA Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 12 at Rosaira's Restaurant and Function Facility in Saugus, Massachusetts.

Last Saturday, against the Bulldogs, Kalosky was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the contest as the senior quarterback produced five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) for the Gulls in the victory.

Along with earning MVP honors, Kalosky also became the program leader in passing completions (665 total, 20-for-30, zero interceptions, in the game) and passing touchdowns (79).

Kalosky is now the third student-athlete in program history to be bestowed with a NEFWA Gold Helmet Award joining former quarterbacks Phil Konopka '12 (Shelton, Conn.) and Drew Frenette '15 (New Bedford, Mass.) on the illustrious list (based upon available data). Konopka was the first student-athlete ever in the program to claim the honor (Oct. 5, 2011, 55-7 win over Curry), while Frenette was the second (Oct. 9, 2013, 53-28 win over Maine Maritime).

Meanwhile, this week's Division I (FBS/FCS) Gold Helmet Award winner was Yale University senior quarterback Kurt Rawlings (Bel Air, Md.). Rawlings led the Bulldogs to one of the most exciting games ever in the 136-year history of "The Game" as he threw two touchdown passes in the final 90 seconds of regulation and another touchdown to send the game to a second overtime as Yale defeated Harvard, 50-43.

The senior threw for 417 yards on 33 completions. He also rushed for 62 yards and an additional score with a long run of 17 yards. This is the second consecutive week Rawlings has been honored with the Gold Helmet.
