BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott football team (8-2) is set to host Dean College (4-5) this Saturday in the New England Bowl at Hempstead Stadium. Here's a preview of this week's playoff matchup, which is scheduled to kick-off at 12 PM.

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Dean posted a 4-1 record in league play this season to capture its first-ever Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) championship. Saturday's matchup for the Bulldogs will mark their first-ever playoff appearance since moving to NCAA Division III status back in 2017. However, since Dean is in its last year of NCAA provisional status, SUNY Maritime – the conference's runner-up program in the league standings – was chosen to represent the ECFC in NCAA postseason play later this week as the Privateers earned the league's automatic qualifier.
  • Sophomore quarterback Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) has been one of the most exciting student-athletes in the New England region to watch this season. Watts currently leads the ECFC in completions (177), attempts (296), completion percentage (59.8%), yards (2,430), yards per game (270.0), passing touchdowns (27), and pass efficiency (151.4). He also ranks second in yards per attempt (8.2) and has scored four rushing touchdowns this season. His most memorable performance came against Alfred State where he completed 18 of his 29 pass attempts (62.1%) for 260 yards (9.0) and seven touchdown passes.
  • Endicott enters Saturday's tilt ranked No. 2 in its conference in points per game (40.5) and total points (405), while Dean ranks first in the ECFC in both categories (30.1 PPG/217 PTS).
  • The Gulls are 2-0 against common opponents that Dean has played this season. Endicott has beaten Salve Regina (30-24) and Nichols (35-7), while the Bulldogs fell to both opponents by scores of 62-35 and 37-12, respectively.
  • Saturday's matchup will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
