BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott freshmen corner back Travis Bounsy (West Newbury, Mass.) and tight end Ricardo Matos (Miami, Fla.) both received weekly awards from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) yesterday for their efforts in Saturday's non-conference game against Framingham State University. Bounsy was named the NEFC Defensive Rookie of the Week, and Matos was picked as the NEFC Offensive Rookie of the Week.

NEFC WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

In their collegiate debuts, Bounsy compiled five tackles (three solo, one for a loss), and forced one fumble, while Matos hauled in three receptions for 27 yards, which included a nine-yard touchdown grab to make it a one-score game in the fourth quarter (20-14, 14:54).

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL RECIPIENTS

MICHAEL SCHERER, SOPHOMORE, QUARTERBACK, MIDDLEFIELD, CONN.

In a backup role for Endicott versus the Rams, Scherer went 13-for-21, and also compiled 176 yards and three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) for the Gulls.

CHRISTIAN MARTINEZ, JUNIOR, INSIDE LINEBACKER, TARIFFVILLE, CONN.

A running back for his first two years with the Gulls, Martinez shined in his collegiate debut at the inside linebacker position against Framingham State University on Saturday totaling seven tackles (four solo, one for a loss) and two blocks.
