Endicott Football All-Time Captains
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott football second-year head coach Kevin DeWall and his coaching staff are proud to announce that seniors Craig Anderson (Franklin, Mass.) and Chris Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) will serve the team as captains in 2016.
"As we continue to strengthen our team culture in year two with our coaching staff, we continue to implement and enhance the team leadership model and the high expectations we have for every player in our football family. These high standards are especially true for those chosen as captains by the team to represent and lead our team on and off the field," said DeWall. "On behalf of our coaching staff and players, we are eager to have Chris Lipscomb and Craig Anderson serve as our captains for the 2016 Endicott Football team. I believe that Chris and Craig are very good representatives for the caliber of committed student-athletes and quality young men we expect in our football family. Both of these young men were solid leaders on last year's team as juniors, so we are excited to see them take on an even greater leadership role with this year's team to compliment the shared leadership of the team."
Both Anderson and Lipscomb possess academic, athletic, and service attributes that make them qualified to lead the next era of Endicott football under Coach DeWall. In the classroom, these gridiron stars have been acclaimed for their academic excellence with numerous awards including NEFC academic all-conference (3.0 GPA+), CoSIDA academic all-district (3.30 GPA+) and academic All-American honors (3.30 GPA+), and Endicott Varsity Club (3.50 GPA+) accolades all while entrenching themselves into workplace through internship experience, which is a focal point of the Endicott College education.
Through their hard work on the practice field and on game day, both Anderson and Lipscomb have earned accolades at the conference and national level. In the North Shore community and beyond, Endicott's pair of captains has made it a point to involve themselves and their teammates with organizations and individuals that need their assistance.
Below is an introduction to the 2016 Endicott football captains and their individual qualifications:
Craig Anderson '17, Defensive Tackle, Criminal Justice Major, Two-Time Captain
Athletically and academically during his career at Endicott, Anderson's list of accolades have nearly gone unmatched as the rising senior defensive tackle has won numerous awards for his efforts both on the gridiron and in the classroom. Last season alone, Anderson received the 2016 Jack Daly Award for Academics, Citizenship, and Football recipient, CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American First Team and All-District First Team honors, NEFC Academic All-Conference accolades, a Dean's List nod, and the following athletic awards including D3football.com All-East Region Second Team, NEFC All-Conference First Team and USA College Football DIII Preseason All-American Honorable Mention laurels.
Anderson, who is only the seventh multi-year captain in program history, enters his senior season ranked second all-time on the Endicott record books in quarterback sacks and yards from sacks, and tenth overall in total tackles.
Chris Lipscomb '17, Wide Receiver, Sport Management Major, First-Time Captain
Lipscomb, who saw action as a wide receiver, punt returner, and punter last season, will continue to bring his dynamic versatility to the field in 2016. Lipscomb will be coming off of a junior campaign in which he recorded 412 all-purpose yards, nearly 100 yards rushing, 1,000 yards punting, and 350 yards receiving to go along with two reception touchdowns.
In addition to his athletic prowess, which is also featured on the hardwood as a member Endicott's two-time defending Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) champions' men's basketball team, Lipscomb's leadership will be instrumental to the success of the Gulls this coming fall.
Since high school Lipscomb's leadership has been on display through his volunteer work with the Reconnecting Youth Program, which helps at-risk kids in their journey to stay in school. Lipscomb has also volunteered his time to others while at Endicott as the senior wideout has cleaned up local neighborhood yards in Beverly and also volunteered at the North Shore Food Pantry the last two years.
