Endicott to host Norwich in ECAC North Atlantic Bowl

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Endicott Stadium will play host to one final football game in 2012 as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced today that the Gulls will host Norwich in the ECAC North Atlantic Bowl on Saturday, November 17th at 1:00 pm.

Endicott, runner-up in the NEFC Boyd Division with an 8-2 overall record, will play in its second straight ECAC bowl game against an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) opponent as the Gulls defeated Mount Ida 31-22 to cap off the 2011 season.  Endicott and Norwich have never met on the gridiron in either program's history.  They share two common opponents this season, Castleton State and Western New England.  The Gulls handed Castleton State a 66-14 defeat in their home opener on September 8th and bested Western New England 50-45 at home on October 27th in an offensive battle.  The Cadets opened their 2012 season with a 26-24 victory over Western New England but on October 6th at home, lost 35-27 to Castleton State.

The Blue and Green wrapped up their third consecutive season with a 6-1 record in NEFC Boyd Division games, but Endicott fell short of reaching the conference championship game despite being among the league's leader in several offensive, defensive, and special teams categories.  Endicott ended the regular season on a six-game win-streak, taking those contests by an average margin of victory of 26.2 points per game, and saw 11 players achieve NEFC All-Division status.

Norwich recorded a 7-2 overall record on the season with a 4-2 mark in ECFC play.  Norwich's two losses came on back-to-back weeks against conference opponents by single digits, a four-point defeat at Mount Ida and an eight-point loss at home to Castleton State.  The Cadets rely on the running game for over 60% of their offense as they average 281.9 yards per game on the ground compared to 174.4 yards through the air.  Along with running back Danny Triplett's (Haverhill, Mass.) team-leading 928 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns, Norwich senior quarterback Kris Sabourin (Georgia, Vt.) poses a dual threat as he has thrown for 18 touchdowns and run for seven more this season.  Sabourin averages 97.3 rushing yards per game and a stout 6.3 yards per carry.  Norwich last played in an ECAC bowl game in 2010, suffering a 27-21 loss to Framingham State
