Beverly, MA -- Defensive back and kick returner Orlando Johnson (Newport, RI/Rogers) has been named New England Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The Endicott sophomore has led this two-year varsity program on a 3 game winning streak. The Gulls are undefeated in the conference and currently stand at the top of the Boyd Division with a 3-2 overall record.

In Endicott's 14-7 double overtime win versus Umass Dartmouth, Johnson recorded 10 solo tackles and added three assists including a tackle for loss. He also caused two turnovers with a forced fumble and an interception. Johnson returned seven punts for 46 yards and had a 22-yard kickoff return.

"Orlando played a great game," said Head Coach JB Wells. "He always seems to find a way to make a big play, whether it is on defense or in the kicking game." Johnson is currently 3rd in the NEFC in passes defended, punt returns, and interceptions.
