Equestrian Opens Season At UVM; Ploof Qualifies For Regionals

WILLISTON, Vt. — The Endicott equestrian team opened up its season at the University of Vermont (UVM) Show on Saturday evening.

Faith Ploof (Westfield, Vt.) headlined the Gulls by finishing second in novice flat, as a result, pointing out of her division and qualifying for regionals.

"We had an excellent debut back into Region 2 today. Our riders took top-3 ribbons consistently class after class against competitive groups of riders," said Endicott equestrian head coach Megan Martin. "When you're the new team in an established region it can be hard to find your way, but I'm proud of our women for rising to the occasion and for their exceptional sportsmanship supporting one another throughout the day!"

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Isabelle Wulff (New London, N.H.) was first in intermediate flat and second in intermediate fences.
  • Sophia Channell (Vergennes, Vt.) ranked second in open fences and fourth in open flat.
  • Amanda Blanco (Fairfield, Conn.) registered a runner-up finish in limit flat.
  • Erin Nelson (Lexington, Mass.) placed second in limit fences.
  • Emily Bianco (Barrington, R.I.), Tess Calzini (Ipswich, Mass.), Kendall Harris (Henniker, N.H.), and Jordan Padovano (Cranford, N.J.) were third, fourth, fourth, and sixth in novice flat.
  • Ellen Helojoki (Newark, Del.) finished fourth in pre-novice flat.
  • Lillian Fauteux (Newport, Vt.) came in third in introductory flat.
  • Shaina Zaslow (Lexington, Mass.) notched a fourth place performance in limit flat.
  • Riley Miller (Acton, Mass.) was fifth in limit fences, while Irina Canute (Sudbury, Mass.) ranked fifth in limit flat.
  • Lucia Taylor (Lyme, N.H.) rounded out the results with a fourth place finish in limit flat.
