SOUTH HAMILTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team hosted reining ACHA National Champion, University of New Hampshire last Saturday. Despite the lone goal by freshman Benjamin MacEwen (Waltham, Mass.) the Wildcats scored three goals to hold the 3-1 victory. Endicott now sits at 1-1 on the season while the Wildcats earn their first win of the year in their season opener.

Endicott plays next on Saturday, October 11th as they host Merrimack at 7:30 p.m. at the Pingree School.

The first period was a battle as both sides earned a tally for the board. The first came from the Blue and Green as MacEwen controlled a feed from senior Alex Dodds (Grantham, N.H.) and freshman Kyle Webb (Reading, Mass.) and slipped the puck into the back of the net.

Three minutes later UNH answered back as Philip Falkof (Stoughton, Mass.) found the back of the net with the assists going to Cameron Roy (Newburyport, Mass.) and Owen Allen (Lee, N.H.) to make it a tie game.

After both sides worked their respective offensive ends neither side could break the tie before the first intermission.

The second period presented a strong Wildcats group that peppered the Endicott defense with huge efforts by sophomore goaltender Nick Russo (Waltham, Mass.) who made some clutch saves.

11 minutes into the second period the Wildcats broke the tie as Gordon Borek (Durham, N.H.) controlled a feed from Kilian McNamara (Lake Worth, Fla.) and blasted the puck into the back of the net. Six minutes later UNH tallied their third and final goal of the game off an unassisted goal by David DeDonato (Chelmsford, Mass.) on a power play.

Endicott worked to fight back but their efforts were not enough as they fell to the national powerhouse, 3-1.

Russo was stealthy in net compiling 42 saves while MacEwen tallied his second goal of the season.
