SOUTH HAMILTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's club ice hockey team opened up their 2014-15 season this past Saturday. The Blue and Green hosted Harvard for a 7:30 p.m. game on homecoming. Three different Gulls scored goals to help secure the 3-0 victory. Endicott improves to 1-0 on the season while they anticipate a battle with New Hampshire on Saturday, October 4th at 7:30 p.m at the Pingree School.

For the Gulls, sophomore Nick Russo (Waltham, Mass.) took his place between the pipes not allowing the Crimson to score a single goal in all three periods. Endicott started the scoring early in the first period after senior Alex Dodds (Grantham, N.H.) received a feed from freshman Lucian DiMarco (Glastonbury, Conn.) and blasted the puck into the back of the net for the one goal advantage.

After a scoreless second period the Blue and Green came out firing in the third. Freshman Benjamin MacEwen (Waltham, Mass.) made it a two goal game after senior Jake Rand (Winthrop, Mass.) fed him the puck in front and blasted it past Crimson goaltender Sam Gillis.

Less than 20 seconds later Endicott tallied their third and final goal of the game after freshman duo James Burns (Andover, Mass.) and Kyle Webb (Reading, Mass.) made a combo play to goal where Webb found Burns open in front and dished him the puck for the tip in to secure the 3-0 victory.

Endicott looked strong in their 2014-15 debut under the leadership of first year head coach, R.J. Tolan. The Blue and Green had three freshman tally points while three veterans helped the team start out strong.

This Saturday will be a big test as the Wildcats finished the 2013-14 season 27-7-0 while earning the programs first SECHL Championship then capping it off with an ACHA Division II National Championship. Last season the pair met twice where each took home a victory.
