BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 4/6 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team opened up the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament with a 9-2 victory over Suffolk on Wednesday evening at North Field.
WP (8-0): Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) — 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
LP (3-6): Garret Roberts (Stratham, N.H.) — 5 1/3 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Gulls exploded for four runs and never relinquished their lead the rest of the way.
Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) worked a bases loaded walk to make it 3-2, while a wild pitch two at-bats later pushed the score to 4-2.
Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) capped the scoring in the frame just a few moments afterward with a two-run single up the middle.
Shpur also belted a solo shot in the eighth before Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) and Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) both drove in a run to account for the 9-2 final score.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) and Wladkowski opened up the scoring in the fifth with an RBI single and double, respectively.
