CCC TOURNAMENT: No. 2 Endicott Tops No. 5 Western New England, 10-7

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 20/21 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated Western New England, 10-7, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament action on Wednesday evening at North Field.

WP (7-0): Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) – 6 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
LP (5-4): Matt Lauria (East Haddam, Conn.) – 2 1/3 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
SV (1): Will Fox (West Hartford, Conn.) – 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

The Gulls hit three two-run homers and held off a late rally from Western New England to come away with the win.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) blasted a homer to left center in the third (3-1), Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) launched a no-doubter off the Post Center in the fourth (7-1), and John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) ripped a screamer to left field in the sixth (10-5).

After Western New England made it 10-7 with a two-run bomb in the seventh, Fox quieted the Golden Bears from there retiring the first five batters he faced before working around a two-out double.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott evened up the all-time series with Western New England at 24-24.
  • The Gulls are 20-1 at home this season.
  • Mulready (12), Shpur (10), and Notarangelo (10) are tied for first and fourth, respectively, in the CCC for most home runs on the year.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 20/21 Endicott (33-7) hosts third-seeded Roger Williams tomorrow at 3:30 PM. Western New England welcomes sixth-seeded Suffolk to its campus tomorrow at 3 PM.
