No. 25 Baseball Tops UMass Boston On Senior Day, 12-8

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 25 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated UMass Boston, 12-8, in non-conference action on Sunday evening at North Field.

Prior to the game, graduate students Alexander Zaiser (Naples, Fla.), Nickolas Perkins (Nashua, N.H.), and Matthew McKinley (Hudson, N.H.) and seniors Jimmy Edwards (Cheshire, Conn.), Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.), and Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) were all honored for their contributions to the Endicott College community and the baseball program as part of a Senior Day ceremony.

WP (3-2): Foch Lovejoy (Durham, N.H.) – 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
LP (1-1): Keenan Metrick (Malvern, Pa.) – 4 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 3 K

Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh, the Gulls exploded for five runs to secure the eventual Senior Day win.

Endicott took advantage of errors (9-6) before Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) ripped a two-run triple down the right field line to account for the remainder of the scoring in the frame.

Liam Crovo (Melrose, Mass.) also added an insurance run in the eighth with an RBI single to right field.

The Gulls' other offensive highlights included homers from Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) and Millar, while Perkins drove in two runs via a 3-for-5 day.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 10-7 all-time against UMass Boston.
  • The Gulls are 18-1 at The Nest this year, which ties a program record for most home victories in a single season (2015: 18-9).
  • Shpur has reached base safely in 35 straight games.
  • Millar finished today's contest with four RBI, which marks his fourth multi-RBI game of the season.
