Baseball Goes 2-1 Overall In Three-Game Weekend Homestand

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott baseball team posted a 2-1 record in its three-game weekend homestand this past Saturday and Sunday at North Field. The Gulls defeated MIT, 12-7, on Saturday, and split doubleheader versus Bates (W, 7-0 | L, 3-9) on the following day.

ENDICOTT 12, MIT 7

Winning Pitcher:
Kevin Gould (Rollinsford, N.H.)

Losing Pitcher:
Zack Kopstein (Tiburon, Calif.) — 4.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO

Turning Point:

Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Gulls put up a nine-spot on MIT (1-1) to take a commanding 10-3 lead and never looked back. Extra-base hits came in bunches in the inning as Ryan Prosser (Holden, Mass.) notched a three-run triple down the right field line, Jordan Carvalho (Rehoboth, Mass.) smashed a two-run homer, and John Duffy (Stratford, Conn.) had a two-run triple to highlight the frame.

Notable Stats:

  • Prosser finished the contest with four RBI.
  • Joseph Brown (Poultney, Vt.) was solid out of the pen behind 2 1/3 innings, six hits, two runs (both earned), no walks, and six strikeouts.

Losing Pitcher:
