BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior right-handed pitcher Kevin Gould (Rollinsford, N.H.) has earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England Third Team accolades, as announced by both organizations earlier today.

With today's announcement, Gould is now a five-time All-Region selection. He has claimed two D3baseball.com All-New England Region honors, two ABCA/Rawlings accolades, and one NEIBA distinction, so far in his career.

Meanwhile, this past season, Gould made 11 appearances (all starts) for the Gulls and posted a 6-2 overall record, two complete games, one shutout (three combined), and a 2.19 earned run average (ERA) in 65 2/3 innings pitched.

Gould also notched 71 strikeouts, which included three separate games with 11 strikeouts, and held opponents to a .226 batting average.

Among all Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) pitchers, Gould ranks among the leaders in the following categories: games started (1st), wins (2nd), complete games (3rd), shutouts (1st), innings pitched (3rd), strikeouts (2nd), strikeouts per game (3rd, 9.73), batting average against (21st), and ERA (1st).

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott went 23-18 overall (9-5 CCC) and advanced to the postseason for the 24th straight season. The Gulls' 20-plus win season also marks their 11th consecutive season with 20 or more victories and 18th overall in program history. 


ABOUT THE ABCA

ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Americans will be announced the evening of Thursday, May 30 following the Opening Ceremonies at the NCAA Div. III World Series. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced Wednesday, June 19. 

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007. 

The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Paul Hesse of the University of Mount Union. Also on the committee are Derek Carlson (Brandeis University), Dean Glus (The College of New Jersey), Ray Hedrick (Randolph-Macon College), Luke Johnson (North Park University), Scott Laverty (Chapman University), Corey Paluga (Elmira College) and Kevin Tomasiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh). 

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 11,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth. The 76th annual ABCA Convention will be held Jan. 2-5, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee.
