BEVERLY, Mass. – Behind three RBI from sophomore designated hitter Jordan Carvalho (Rehoboth, Mass.), the Endicott baseball team defeated MIT, 7-3, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at North Field.
Gulls' starter Cooper Anibal (Bedford, N.H.) earned the win (2-0) on five innings pitched, four hits, one run (earned), no walks, and a game-high (tied) four strikeouts. Will Bryant (Cumberland, Maine) also was credited with his fourth save of the season via 1 1/3 innings, zero hits, one run (unearned), three free passes, and two punchouts.
Meanwhile, MIT reliever Zach Kopstein (Tiburon, Calif.) received the loss (2-2) on 2 2/3 innings, five hits, one run (earned), no walks, and two strikeouts.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Carvalho tied up the contest with his first of three RBI on the night with a sacrifice fly to right field.
The Gulls added another run via a sac fly in the fourth before back-to-back bases loaded walks gave them enough cushion (4-1) for the remainder of the contest. Carvalho drew the second bases loaded walk in the fourth and added an RBI single up the middle in the eighth to collect his second and third RBI of the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott improved to 12-5 all-time against MIT with today's win.
- Carvalho went 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBI from the cleanup spot. It marks his fourth multi-hit game, third multi-RBI contest, and first career three-RBI game.
- Dan Cacciola (Saugus, Mass.) went 1-for-3 with one run scored, a walk, and two RBI. Cacciola's lone hit was a triple, the second of his career.
- The Gulls are 9-4 at home this season.

Endicott (19-13) hosts Tufts University tomorrow at 3:30 PM. MIT (15-14-1) welcomes WPI to its campus tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
