CCC TOURNAMENT: No. 1 Salve Regina Defeats No. 4 Endicott, 17-5

NEWPORT, R.I. – The fourth-seeded Endicott baseball team lost to first-seeded Salve Regina, 17-5, in game three of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament on Saturday evening at Brother Michael Reynolds Field.

Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) received the win (5-3) on 5 2/3 innings pitched, five hits, three runs (two earned), four walks, and a game-high six strikeouts. Liam Burke (Westwood, Mass.) was handed the loss (2-2) via two innings of work, five hits, six runs (all earned), and one walk.

Salve Regina raced out to an 8-2 lead of the first three innings and added five more in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, to eventually come away with the win.

Meanwhile, Michael Casciano (Somers, Conn.) stood out offensively for the Gulls going 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and two walks.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (25-15) will play No. 5 Wentworth in game five of the CCC Tournament tomorrow at 11 AM. The winner of that contest will need to defeat No. 1 Salve Regina twice in order to advance to the CCC Championship Series, which will be held next week from May 11-12. The loser of tomorrow's game between Endicott and Wentworth will see its season come to a close.
