CCC CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: No. 2 Endicott, No. 1 Salve Regina To Play For League Title This Friday

BEVERLY, Mass. – The second-seeded Endicott baseball team will play first-seeded Salve Regina University in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship Series (best-of-three) this Friday, May 12 at Brother Michael Reynolds Field in Newport, Rhode Island. Game one of the championship series will be played at 1 PM, while game two will take place at 4 PM. The if necessary game is scheduled for Saturday, May 13 at 11 AM, but that start time may be adjusted depending on an updated weather forecast on Friday. 

THE MATCHUP/ALL-TIME SERIES 

Endicott and Salve Regina enter Friday's twin bill deadlocked at 27-27 in the all-time series. The Seahawks have won the last four meetings, which includes a doubleheader conference sweep (3-2, 13-0) earlier this year on April 8. 

This weekend's playoff series is also a rematch of last year's CCC Championship. Salve Regina won the 2016 league title at Endicott by forcing the if necessary game and defeating the Gulls in the winner-take-all contest, 2-1. 

SCOUTING ENDICOTT: The Gulls are 8-2 in their last 10 games, and 3-2 in their last five matchups. SCOUTING SALVE REGINA: The Seahawks enter this weekend's championship series nationally ranked in both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball and the D3baseball.com Polls at No. 20 and No. 23 overall, respectively. However, Salve Regina sports a 5-5 record in its last 10 games headed into Friday's pair of games. Salve Regina's conference ranks include: runs (1st, 270), hits (1st, 421), doubles (2nd, 65), triples (4th, nine), home runs (t-5th, eight), RBI (1st, 233), walks (3rd, 151), stolen bases (1st, 102), batting average (1st, .314), (1st, .403), slugging percentage (1st, .394), earned run average (1st, 3.36), strikeouts (1st, 344), strikeouts per/9 (1st, 9.02).
