BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team fell to UMass Boston, 5-4, in 10 innings on Monday night at Monan Park.
Luke Nagle (Pembroke, Mass.) provided the game-winning hit with a single to the left side of the infield with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Bobby Tramondozzi (Peabody, Mass.) picked up the win (2-1) in relief via 2 1/3 innings pitched, one hit, zero runs, a walk, and two strikeouts. Meanwhile, Corbin Hyde (Lewiston, Maine) suffered the hard-luck loss (2-2) on two-thirds of an inning, one hit, one run (earned), and three free passes.
Endicott led 4-2 after six full innings, but a two-run home run from Anthony Searles (Shelton, Conn.) in the seventh inning forced the eventual extra inning affair.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Steve Morganelli (Milford, Mass.) highlighted the Gulls with a 3-for-4 showing at the plate, alongside two RBI.
- Morganelli evened up the contest at 1-1 in the fourth with an RBI single up the middle before he started a three-run sixth inning with a sacrifice fly to center field.
- At the plate, Hyde went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two walks.
- Endicott's seven-game winning streak came to an end in tonight's loss.
- The Gulls are 8-3 in the all-time series versus UMass Boston.
FOR THE FOES
- Nagle finished the night going 3-for-5 with one run scored and two RBI.
- The Beacons have won eight games in a row.
