Gold and Martinez to Play in NEIBA All-Star Game

BABSON PARK, Mass. - Seniors Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) and EJ Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) will represent Endicott at the 40th Annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game as members of the College Division All-Stars who will take on top Division I New England talent. The game will be played at LaLacheur Park (Lowell, Massachusetts) on Sunday, June 1st with a 7:00 pm first pitch.

Gold, the NEIBA Player of the Year, and Martinez, named to the NEIBA All-New England First Team, are two of 18 Division III student-athletes and five from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) that will be playing in the NEIBA All-Star Game. Division III players will team up with 14 members from Division II institutions to take on Division I players from UConn, UMass Amherst, Boston College, Fairfield, Sacred Heart, Bryant, Northeastern, Maine, Hartford, Holy Cross, Central Connecticut, UMass Lowell, and Quinnipiac.

Gold (.429) and Martinez (.410) finished 1-2 on the team in batting average with both players driving in over 40 runs and combining for nearly 90 runs scored this season for the Gulls. Both players finished with career years in their final season in the Blue and Green as they led Endicott (34-16, 13-3 CCC) to its second straight CCC Championship and nearly reached the College World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin with another appearance in the NCAA New England Regional Final.
