NEIBA Division I, II, and III College Baseball Polls – May 19th
BABSON PARK, Mass. – Following another historic run through the NCAA Division III New England Regional bracket into the tournament finals for the second straight season, the Endicott baseball team climbed three spots to finish the season as New England's #2 team in the region according to the final New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) poll.
Ranked fifth behind Eastern Connecticut, Southern Maine, Tufts, and Amherst before the start of NCAA Regional Tournament action, Endicott (34-16) went 4-2 at the New England Regional in Harwich with two victories over MIT, a win over Mitchell, and a triumph over Southern Maine before eventually falling in the championship game to the Huskies. Their efforts towards securing a bid into the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament in Appleton, Wisconsin fell short but Endicott ended their 2014 campaign as the second-best team in New England.
Southern Maine, the New England Regional winner, finished atop the NEIBA Division III Coaches Poll followed by Endicott, Tufts, MIT, Eastern Connecticut, Wesleyan, Amherst, and St. Joseph's (Maine).
Led by New England Player of the Year (NEIBA and D3Baseball.com), senior centerfielder Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.), CCC Pitcher of the Year sophomore JJ Branch (Milford, Mass.), CCC Rookie of the Year freshman outfielder Cam Farnham (Andover, Mass.), CCC Coach of the Year Bryan Haley, and a total of 10 All-CCC honorees, Endicott their third 30-win season over the past four years. The Blue and Green captured back-to-back CCC titles, earned the #4 seed in the NCAA New England Regional, and for the second straight season came one win away from a trip to the College World Series.
Under seven-year head coach Bryan Haley, the Gulls have established five straight winning seasons and have gone 197-122 (.618) overall and 97-39 (.713) in-conference play under his leadership. Since the program's inaugural season in 1995, the Gulls own a .576 winning percentage and are approaching 500 victories.
