CCC Athletes of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior centerfielder Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) won his first CCC Player of the Week award this spring after extending his season-high hit streak to nine games with a 10-for-24 (.417) performance at the plate in a 4-3 week for the Blue and Green. Gold upped his team-high and career-high batting average 10 points to .436 over the seven-game stretch.

Gold has earned CCC Player of the Week honors three previous times in his career, twice in 2013 and once in 2012, as well as one CCC Rookie of the Week award in 2011. He joins teammates Harry Oringer (Dartmouth, Mass.), a two-time winner, and EJ Martinez (Brooklyn, Mass.) as Endicott players that have earned player of the week honors this season.

On the week, Gold batted .417 with four of his 10 hits going for extra-bases, 10 runs scored, five RBI, three walks, and two stolen bases. Three times last week he recorded multiple hits including two hits in a home loss to Bates, a road victory over regionally-ranked Wheaton (Mass.), and in game one of a Senior Day sweep over CCC and North Shore Cup rival Gordon.

In one of Endicott's most important wins of the week, a 9-7 road triumph over the NCAA Division III New England's sixth-ranked Wheaton Lyons, Gold went 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs, and two RBI. The Gulls, who are ranked fourth in the region, needed the win to split their regular season home and away doubleheader with Wheaton.

Gold and his Endicott teammates secured the top seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament with a 3-1 record over conference opponents this week and have earned home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Official seeding and schedule information for the tournament that begins on Thursday, May 1st will be announced later in the day Monday.

Endicott has one final game before their first postseason game, a home non-conference tilt against UMass Boston on Monday, April 28th at 3:30 pm on North Field.
