Zac Poland Named CCC Pitcher of the Week in 2-0 Week

CCC Athletes of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott sophomore pitcher Zac Poland (Essex Junction, Vt.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Week after winning both of his starts this week over Roger Williams and Curry without allowing an earned run. This is Poland's first weekly honor of his collegiate career.

Poland (4-0) started off the week pitching game one of a critical doubleheader against CCC opponent Roger Williams at home on Monday. Poland shut down the Hawks for seven innings, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out six in a 4-0 complete-game victory.

Poland followed up that effort on Saturday with another complete-game against Curry, allowing two unearned runs to cross the plate on five hits and two walks while punching out seven Colonels. Endicott won the game 9-2 as both Curry runs came about thanks to defensive miscues.

Since March 28th, Poland has seen his ERA plummet from 5.56 to 1.91 as the lefty has not allowed an earned run in 21 2/3 innings. Over that span he has struck out 15 batters and has won three games as the team's starting pitcher.

Poland and the Gulls are back in action on Wednesday, April 16th at #8/#9 Southern Maine. Endicott defeated Southern Maine back on March 28th 16-7 at North Field.
