Martinez, Farnham Awarded CCC Weekly Honors

CCC Athletes of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) selected two Endicott baseball players for their weekly awards as senior catcher EJ Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman outfielder Cam Farnham (Andover, Mass.) were named Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Martinez and Farnham helped the Gulls to a 4-0 record last week which included a win over a fifth-ranked Southern Maine team and a doubleheader sweep of Eastern Nazarene in their conference opener.

Martinez batted .500 with a .571 on-base percentage and a .833 slugging percentage in four games last week. He had six hits, two of which were for extra-bases including a grand slam homerun in a game one rout of Eastern Nazarene. Martinez knocked a two-RBI double to help Endicott claim a 4-1 lead over Southern Maine in the bottom of the first after the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the inning. Martinez also recorded two runs scored, two walks, and a stolen base.

Through 11 games, Martinez sports a .484 batting average, a .568 on-base percentage, and a .645 slugging percentage. He leads the team in batting average and on-base percentage, ranks second in RBIs (14), and third in hits (15).

After a slow start to the season, Farnham has batted .409 with a team-high nine hits over his last five games as the team's leadoff batter. Farnham scored four runs last week including three in Endicott's lopsided win over #5 Southern Maine. The freshman went 3-for-6 against Huskies pitching including a double and a RBI single in a seven-run bottom of the third to help Endicott garner an 11-3 lead.

Farnham is currently batting .303 with a .395 on-base percentage and has done well on the base paths by swiping 3-for-4 attempts at second base.

Martinez, Farnham, and the rest of the Endicott baseball team look to continue their recent success, a current seven-game win-streak, on Tuesday, April 1st at home against Salve Regina (11-4, 2-1 CCC). This CCC doubleheader begins at 3:00 pm at North Field.
