Endicott Baseball Talbot House Food Donation Photo Gallery
LAKELAND, Fla. – The Endicott baseball spent the majority of their week competing against stiff, non-conference programs from around the country at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational last week. The Gulls, however, found time at the end of their trip to stop at the Talbot House Ministries homeless shelter to donate food to those in need.
"We have been traveling down to Florida in each of the seven years that I've been at Endicott," said head coach Bryan Haley. "but this is the first year that we decided to get all of our guys involved with giving back to the community that has hosted our program."
The idea originated In 2013 with assistant coach Jon Cahill and assistant athletic trainer Abbey Wirtz who saw the surplus of leftover in the coaches house and decided to do something about it. The two went to the Talbot House and dropped off the extra food and supplies.
In 2014, with the coaches staying in one house and the team's 32-man roster staying in multiple other houses, there was an opportunity to donate an even bigger supply of food to the homeless shelter. In total, the team was able to donate 15 bags of groceries to the Talbot House in their final day down in Florida.
