SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott College freshman Michael Russo (Natick, Mass.) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week as released by the Conference office on Monday afternoon. Russo has helped lead the Gulls to a 17-20 overall record and 12-10 record in the TCCC. The Gulls will travel to Newport, R.I. on Tuesday afternoon for a first-round matchup with Salve Regina University at 3:00 p.m.
Russo collected three hits in three of the four conference games he played last week, as the Gulls posted a 3-2 weekly record -- 3-1 in TCCC play -- and claimed the \#5 seed in the upcoming TCCC Championship. Russo, who batted .714 (10-14) with six RBI in four conference games, collected four hits in a doubleheader with Gordon and added six hits on a twinbill sweep of Nichols.
Russo and the Gulls split their previous two games with the Seahawks in a double-header on April 18th. The Gulls were able to take game one of the double-header, 5-3, but were beaten one of the few times in the final two weeks, 3-2, in game two of the doubleheader. First pitch between Endicott and Salve Regina is slated for 3:00 p.m.
