BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott and Gordon baseball teams traded wins in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader on Thursday, as the Gulls won the opener, 8-4, and then fell to the Fighting Scots by the same score in the nightcap. The decisions move Endicott's record to 15-19 overall and 10-10 in TCCC play while Gordon goes to 9-18-1 and 8-12 in Conference action.

Endicott rallied out of a 3-0 hole in game one by scoring eight times in the final three innings. Michael Russo (Natick, Mass.) got the streak started as he doubled down the left field line, eventually scoring on an RBI single by Alex Judge (Wilton, Conn.).

A five-run fifth opened an insurmountable lead as the Gulls cranked out five hits in the frame. A double by Mike Barbati (Melrose, Mass.) followed by a single from Aaron Santos (Cambridge, Mass.) opened the inning. With runners on second and third, freshman Benjamin Petrides (Belchertown, Mass.) cleared the bases with a two RBI double to left. The Gulls ended the scoring by successfully completing a double steal in which Roberto Zapata (Boston, Mass.) swiped second with Petrides stealing home in the process.

Endicott tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth off hits from Brian Andersen (Grafton, Mass.) and Michael Russo. Andy Skelton (Sudbury, Mass.) picked up an RBI when he grounded out to the right side of the infield allowing a run to score.

Colin McGinn (Tolland, Conn.) picked up his fifth win of the season to move to 5-3. Andrew Zgrablich (Doylestown, Pa.) took the loss as he went 4.2 innings allowing six runs on seven hits.

In the nightcap, Gordon pieced together a four-run fourth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit and then posted three more runs on to the lead in the top of the seventh. Rob Hinckley (Raynham, Mass,) went the distance for the Fighting Scots as he surrendered four runs on seven hits while striking out four in seven innings.

Gordon's Steven Kefalas (Wenham, Mass.) led the way for the visitors as he had three RBI and two runs scored in game two. Stephen Myhren (Vernon, N.J.) was also strong at the plate, collecting three hits with a run batted in and a run scored in the win.

The Gulls had no player record more than one hit in the second game, as seven players accounted for Endicott's seven hits. Benjamin Petrides took the loss, as he gave up five runs (one earned) in four innings. Senior Dave Weinreich (Milford, Conn.) was impressive in his two full-innings of work, as he gave up no runs on two hits.

Endicott steps out of conference play on Friday when the Blue and Green travel to face Brandeis University for a 3:00 p.m. start. Gordon returns to action on Friday as well, as the Fighting Scots host North Shore rival Salem State at the same time.
