SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott College freshman Mike Nich (Amity, Conn.) pitched his way to The Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week as released by the Conference office on Monday afternoon. Nich has proved to be a pivotal player in the Gulls playoff push as he helped lead the Gulls to a 7-1 record last week, currently leaving the Gulls in a tie for fifth place in the TCCC.
The freshman right-hander posted a 2-0 weekly record with a sparkling 0.69 ERA over 13 innings and earned victories over Colby-Sawyer and Anna Maria. He tossed six shutout innings of five-hit ball against Colby-Sawyer, and followed with seven innings of one-run ball in a win over Anna Maria. In 13 total innings, Nich scattered one run on 13 hits, while striking out nine and walking just two.
Nich looks to help the Gulls in their final week of the season as the Gulls will host Gordon College on Wednesday afternoon in a TCCC double-header at 4:00 p.m. at North Field on the campus of Endicott College.
