BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College notched a pair of important TCCC wins on Wednesday, sweeping Colby-Sawyer 5-4 and 8-0 on North Field in Beverly, Mass. The wins improve the Gulls to 11-17 overall and 6-8 in league play, while the Chargers fall to 11-16 and 5-9 against Conference opponents.

Endicott held a slight 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh before the Chargers rallied to knot the game at 4-4. An RBI single by Chris Gaeta (Lynn, Mass.) plated Greg Mehuron (Waitsfield, Vt.), forcing the Gulls to bat in the bottom half of the inning.

After back-to-back fly outs by Mike Barbati (Melrose, Mass.) and Christopher Dominguez (Braintree, Mass.), it seemed as though the game was destined for extra innings. Benjamin Petrides (Belchertown, Mass.) cemented the thought as he connected on what appeared to be a routine fly ball to right, only to have the Charger outfielder drop the potential inning-ending out. With junior Andrew Betts (Bristol, Conn.) at the dish, Petrides made the visitors pay as he swiped second to move into scoring position. Betts then ripped a single to right field, allowing Petrides to score from second for the walk-off win.

Endicott's Christopher Dominguez went 3-for-4 with two RBI in game one, while Roberto Zapata (Boston, Mass.) was 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored. Colby-Sawyer was paced by a 3-for-3 effort from Gaeta that featured a run scored and two RBI. Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) hit a two run homerun in the first inning for the Chargers in the loss.

The Gulls kept the momentum going into game two as the Blue and Green scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings to firmly grab control with a 6-0 lead. An RBI single by Joe Klein (Monroe, Conn.), followed by a triple from Aaron Santos (Cambridge, Mass.) highlighted the three run third for the Gulls. Endicott also connected on two triples in the fourth inning, one by Petrides and the other by Alex Judge (Wilton, Conn.), to help build its lead.

A double by Brian Andersen (Grafton, Mass.) followed two batters later by a two RBI single from Klein helped pad the Endicott lead with a two run sixth inning. Despite loading the bases in the seventh, Colby-Sawyer failed to plate a run as the Chargers fell 8-0 in the nightcap.

Aaron Santos went 2-for-4 with a run batted in a run scored. Brian Andersen had two hits, three RBI and scored once for the Gulls in game two. Mike Nich (Amity, Conn.) threw six innings of shutout ball, allowing five hits while striking out four to pick up the win.

Endicott, winners of its last four, gets back to work on Saturday when the Gulls travel to Newport, R.I. for a double dip with Salve Regina. Colby-Sawyer steps out of Conference play as the Chargers play at Plymouth State on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
