NEW LONDON, NH - Endicott senior pitcher Erik Fields (Swampscott, MA/Swampscott) put together a courageous outing allowing just three hits and one earned run as the Gulls ended Colby-Sawyer's baseball season Wednesday afternoon, downing the Chargers 3-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament action.

Endicott got on the board first, scoring in the top of the second inning when sophomore Ryan Scanlon (Lowell, MA/Lowell) led off the inning with a walk. Scanlon would later score following a sacrifice bunt by Adam Labbe (Litchfield, ME/Oak Hill Regional) to put the Gulls up 1-0.

Colby-Sawyer tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when senior Steve Hansen (Southbury, CT) scored on a Chris Gaeta (Lynn, MA) single to even the contest at 1-all. The score remained that way until the top of the ninth inning, when Endicott pieced together three hits, driving in two runs to take the lead 3-1. The Gulls Aaron Santos (Cambridge, MA/Cushing Academy) drove in a run on an RBI double while senior Steve Vidmosko (Shelton, CT/Fairfield Prep) connected on a single to score Santos to give Endicott the two-run cushion.

In the bottom of the ninth the Chargers could only muster one base runner as Erik Fields retired the side as he got Gaeta to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the game. Colby Sawyer finished the season with an 18-19 overall record.

Steve Vidmosko finished the day with a 4-for-5 afternoon including an RBI while Scanlon went 3-for-3 with a run scored and one walk. Endicott (15-20) advances to face Nichols College on Friday, May 4th in Dudley, MA at 3:00 PM.
