BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College baseball team dropped a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference games to Curry College, 9-0 and 8-5, on Saturday afternoon in Beverly, MA. The losses set Endicott back below .500 at 9-11 overall and 5-3 in the CCC.

After being no-hit in a 9-0 loss in game one, the Gulls looked to regroup in game two. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Endicott was able to capitalize on an early Curry error. With a runner on, Ryan Scanlon (Lowell, MA/Lowell) doubled to left field to score Steve Vidmosko (Shelton, CT/Fairfield Prep) to even the game at 1-all. Erik Fields (Swampscott, MA/Swampscott) put the Blue and Green ahead on an RBI single to left, plating Scanlon to give the Gulls a 2-1 lead.

Endicott proceeded to put two more on the board in the bottom of the second as Aaron Santos (Cambridge, MA/Cushing Academy) reached after being hit by a pitch. The speedy centerfielder scored from first on an RBI double to left center off the bat of Steve Vidmosko, putting Endicott up 3-1. Ryan Scanlon drove in his second run of the day as he singled to right to bring home Vidmosko, upping the Gulls lead to three.

After scoring a run in both the third and fourth, Curry took the lead in the top of the fifth as Rick Vail (Lynnfield, MA) connected on a two RBI single to left field to put the Colonels up 5-4. Curry rallied again in the next inning, this time scoring three runs in their half of the sixth. Junior outfielder David Vincent (Grafton, MA) drove home two on an RBI single to push Curry to an 8-4 advantage. The Gulls would get one in the bottom of the seventh but it wouldn't be enough, falling for the second straight game.

Endicott's Ryan Scanlon and Dan Gomez (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) each had a 2-for-4 afternoon in game two, driving in a pair of runs for the Gulls. Freshman pitcher Nick Kelley (Malden, MA/Malden Catholic) suffered the loss, surrendering eight runs in five and two-thirds innings on the hill. Freshman Matt Sharon (Wallingford, VT/Mill River Union) pitched one and a third strong relief innings for Endicott.

The Gulls look to rebound tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting) as they travel to Roger Williams University for a CCC doubleheader beginning at 11:00 AM in Bristol, RI.
