Bishop Named to NEIBA All-New England Team

BEVERLY, MA - Endicott senior pitcher/first baseman Matt Bishop (Woburn, MA/Woburn) was named to the 2006 All-New England Division III Third Team announced by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Monday.

Bishop was one of 53 players chosen from 26 New England Region Division III teams. The senior righty hit .305 with 10 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 32 RBI in 43 games for the Gulls (23-22). He owned a .610 slugging percentage and a .456 on-base percentage.

Bishop also posted a 1.84 ERA and a 6-3 record in 10 appearances for EC. In 53.2 innings pitched he allowed just 11 earned runs on 37 hits while fanning 54 batters.

This spring, the Gulls won the Commonwealth Coast Conference title for the third time in the last four seasons. Over his three-year career at Endicott, Bishop has compiled a .358 batting average to go along with 30 doubles, nine triples, 24 home runs and 88 RBI. He was also 14-6 on the mound with a career 2.34 ERA and 177 strikeouts.
