Endicott Drops Trip Finale to St. Joe's 8-2

SALISBURY, MD - The Endicott Gulls finished their spring trip this morning when they took the field against the St. Joseph's (ME) Monks at Perdue Field. The Gulls were able to get out to an early lead in the first inning but were unable to hold onto it as they were defeated by the Monks 8-2. The loss drops the Gulls record to 2-7 this season and the Monks improved to 7-5.

The Gulls had some strong performances on the day, one of which included junior Joe Orlando (Gloucester, MA/Gloucester) breaking out of a slight slump by going 2-4 on the day with two singles. Senior Matt Bishop (Woburn, MA/Woburn) also went 2-4 with two singles and added in two RBI's. Senior Kevin Donahue scored both of the Gulls runs while chipping in three hits of his own.

Performing well for the Monks in relief was senior Jack Hughes (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional). He came in to start the third inning for the Monks and finished with five innings pitched and eight strikeouts while surrendering seven hits. Also playing well for the Monks was sophomore outfielder Dustin Spiller (Gorham, ME/Gorham). Spiller finished with three hits and two runs scored.

The Gulls are back in action on Tuesday March 28, 2006 when they play host to the Bridgewater State College Bears. First pitch is at 3:00pm.
