Final Stats

Lancaster, PA - A late push by the Gulls was not enough to overcome an early lead by Franklin and Marshall College this afternoon as Endicott dropped their opening game of the season 10-6. Senior Ted Serro's (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) six no-hit innings of baseball was the key to the day for the Diplomats. Serro struck out the first eight batters and finished with 12 strike outs on the afternoon while allowing just two walks.

The late push for the Gulls started in the eighth inning against Serro's replacement Justin Leonard (Malvern, PA/Malvern Prep) with a leadoff walk by Tom Warner (Hopkinton, NH/Hopkinton) who then advanced to third on a base hit by senior Kevin Donahue (Reading, MA/Reading). Donahue's hit was just the Gulls second of the game but was just the start to the inning. Starting with Warner, the Gulls had eight consecutive batters reach base scoring 5 runs in the process. Junior Steve Vidmosko (Shelton, CT/Fairfield Prep) had a big two run single in the inning, who finished two for three on the day with three RBI's as well as stealing a base in the fifth. Also coming up big in the inning was junior Joe Orlando (Gloucester, MA/Gloucester) also had a two run single and was driven in on Vidmosko's single. The Diplomats escaped on a clutch inning-ending double-play.

Senior Chris Serrano (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham) had three strong innings of relief before the Diplomats were finally able to figure him out. Serrano replaced starter Ian Parkinson (Peabody, MA/Peabody) during the third inning when the Diplomats knocked him out of the game with seven runs.

Leading the way for the Diplomats along with Serro were seniors Eric Milavsky (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Gary Kruger (East Islip, NY/East Islip). Milavsky had a double, two runs scored and a stolen base while Kruger had two hits, a run scored and two walks.

The Gulls are back in action tomorrow with a double header against Franklin and Marshall with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm.
