Endicott Welcomes Shawn Medeiros as New Sports Information Director

Medeiros Resigns As Wheaton's Sports Information Director

BEVERLY, Mass. – Following the completion of an extensive search, Shawn Medeiros has been named Sports Information Director for Endicott’s 21 varsity sports, and six club varsity programs as was announced today by Director of Athletics Dr. Brian Wylie. Medeiros comes to Endicott having served in the same capacity at Wheaton (Mass.) since 2012. Medeiros replaces former Sports Information Director Rob Palardy, who after five years in that role will remain at the College and in the department as an Assistant Athletic Director. Palardy will oversee Endicott’s strategic approach to athletic communications in the NCAA Division III landscape while working with several other areas of the athletic department.

“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to promote Rob and for his help in transforming our approach to sports information over the last five years,” said Wylie. “Equally we’re confident that the vision, creativity and passion for highlighting the student-athlete experience that Shawn has proven, will advance us even further as a College and department.”

"I am thrilled and honored to be the next sports information director at Endicott during this exciting time at the College," said Medeiros. "I'm also looking forward to becoming a part of the Endicott family and furthering the publicity efforts of the sports information department along with Rob Palardy, George Chapell, Eric Hagarty, and Annie Jenkins. Lastly, I'd like to thank the entire search committee, Dr. Wylie, Mr. Redman, and Brian Wylie for this wonderful opportunity."

Medeiros is a 2008 graduate of Bridgewater State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies and a concentration in Broadcast Journalism. Medeiros went on to attain his master's degree in education with a concentration in sports information from Castleton State in 2011 where he also served as a graduate assistant. Following his sports information graduate assistantship at Castleton, Medeiros served as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Stonehill College from 2011-12 where Medeiros was the primary sports contact for 10 Skyhawk teams including both nationally-ranked cross country programs.  He designed the cover of Stonehill's 2012 edition of Academics Illustrated that was judged "Best in the Nation" by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Publications Contest Committee in the category of Special Events Publications for the College Division.

Following his stint at Stonehill, the Fall River, Mass. native was named Sports Information Director at Wheaton, a position he held for three years. Medeiros handled all aspects of athletic communications for the Lyons' 21 varsity sports and established several key elements to Wheaton’s sports information approach including a successful launch and redesign of the department’s athletic website (athletics.wheatoncollege.edu), increased social media presence, and initiatives aimed at highlighting the NCAA Division III philosophy among other aspects of collegiate athletics. His dedication to promoting Wheaton student-athletes was lauded with a Track & Field Excellence in Communications Award by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), a winning entry in the Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest by CoSIDA, and recognition by the NCAA and D3SIDA for his video feature on summer internship experiences on Lyons student-athletes.

In addition to his college athletic communications industry experience, Medeiros worked in print media for several different news outlets including as a sports correspondent for The Boston Globe from 2007-09. He exercised his play-by-play and color commentary experience throughout his time serving as Director of Media Relations and broadcasting for the Keene Swamp Bats, a New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) summer team out of New Hampshire. He has also worked as a statistician at several NCAA Division I institutions like Boston College, Boston University, Providence College, and Rhode Island College as well as the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) and Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
