2015-16 CCC All-Sports Trophy Women's Release

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has released the final tallies for the 2015-16 All-Sports Trophies. The Endicott men’s athletics programs have claimed the 2015-16 CCC Men's All-Sports Trophy with a final score of 8.64, while the women finished third with a score of 7.94.

The All-Sports Trophies have been awarded annually since 2013-14 to the schools that perform the best across the board in league competition.

In each sport, points are awarded based on CCC championship and CCC runner-up finishes in the conference tournament followed by the regular season finish of the remaining teams. The CCC Champion receives 10 points and the CCC runner-up receives nine points.

The regular season finish of the remaining teams is used to determine the number of points awarded to each of those programs. The team with the highest regular season finish, excluding the tournament champion and runner-up, receives eight points with the next team down receiving seven points. The process continues until all teams have been awarded points. In the event of a tie, each tied team receives the average of the sum of the spots for which they are competing.

After the total points are calculated, points are divided by the number of CCC sports that each school sponsors to arrive at an average score.

The Endicott men were the 2015-16 men’s basketball champions and were the runner-up in soccer, baseball, golf, lacrosse. The tennis team also accumulated 7.5 points towards Endicott’s 8.64 score, while the cross country squad added seven points to the Gulls’ overall score.

Roger Williams finished the 2015-16 year in second place with a 7.29 points/sport average. Behind the Hawks were Western New England (6.79), Nichols (6.07), and Gordon (6.00) finishing in the three through five spots. Wentworth (5.79), Salve Regina (5.58), the University of New England (5.40), Eastern Nazarene(3.50), and Curry (3.10) rounded out the table in that order.

On the women’s side, Roger Williams was the All-Sports Trophy winner on the women's side with a 8.5 point/sport average. The University of New England, which led the All-Sports Trophy standings after the winter, finished in second place with an 8.0 point average. Endicott followed closely behind averaging 7.94 points/sport for third place. Salve Regina and Gordon rounded out the top half of the table collecting 6.56 and 6.31 points/sport respectively. Western New England (6.19), Curry (3.71), Eastern Nazarene (3.67), Nichols (3.5), and Wentworth (3.17) closed out the standings in that order.

This is the third year that the CCC has awarded all-sports trophies. In the 2014-15 season, the Endicott men ranked first, while the women were second. In 2013-14, the roles reversed as the Endicott's women's team finished first while the men finished as runner-ups.
