This Week in Endicott Athletics History - October 27th-November 2nd

We sure do wish we had a time machine. These are the moments from this week in Endicott Athletics history when the home crowd was on the edge of their seats, opposing teams slowly walked off the field, records were shattered, and champions were made. This week’s walk down memory lane features men’s soccer magic to make the playoffs, a football slugfest with a conference rival, a men’s golfer receiving a prestigious award, a volleyball star battling in her final match, and a women’s soccer playoff hat trick to reach the finals.

October 27th, 2010 – Alex Elia Nets Two as Men’s Soccer Clinches CCC Tournament Berth

The Endicott men’s soccer team had gone through a three-year dry spell, not making the CCC Tournament in the 2007-09 seasons but behind a two-goal game by then freshman Alex Elia, the Gulls were able to beat New England College 2-0 and earn a playoff berth. Elia’s two goals and four points would stand as career-highs for the remainder of his tenure in the Blue and Green.

October 27th, 2012 – Endicott Outlasts Western New England 50-45 in Offensive Slugfest

The game was already historic; it was the 100th game in Endicott football history since the program earned NCAA Division III status in 2003. Six passing touchdowns by sophomore quarterback Drew Frenette, five that landed in the gloves of senior receiver Mike Murphy, and 288 (123 rush, 4 rec, 161 ret) all-purpose yards by Mike Wheeler all set program records in a 50-45 back-and-forth game with NEFC rival Western New England.

October 28th, 2013 – Nick Erlichman Receives Guy Tedesco Award on NEIGA Championship Weekend

In 2013, senior co-captain Nick Erlichman was honored by the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) with the Guy Tedesco Award which is given to the Outstanding New England College Golfer who displayed qualities of unselfish leadership, outstanding talent, love of golf, and the willingness to promote positive aspects of golf to others.

November 1st, 2012 – Ashley Norley’s 41-dig Effort in CCC Semifinals Caps Off Stellar Career

In the final match of her collegiate career, libero Ashley Norley set the program record for most digs in a single match with 41 in Endicott’s four set loss to Salve Regina in the CCC Semifinals. Norley’s previous career-high was 34 set one season earlier in a five-set loss to Plymouth State in the ECAC New England Semifinals. Norley ended her career just 29 digs shy of Brittany Nolan’s ’09 all-time record of 2,316.

November 2nd, 2010 – Hat Trick Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Golden Bears and into CCC Finals

Colleen Pepin was no stranger to the hat trick during her four years from 2008-11. In fact, she scored three times in a single match on seven different occasions. One of her more impressive hat tricks occurred in the 2010 CCC Tournament as her offensive outburst sent Endicott into the conference finals for the 10th straight season as the Gulls beat Western New England 4-1 in the semifinal round.
