Endicott to Induct Former Director of Athletics and Head Coach Larry Hiser into Hall of Fame

Endicott Athletics Hall of Fame

BEVERLY, Mass. – On the Saturday morning of September 27th, during this weekend’s Homecoming activities at Endicott, the athletic department will formally induct director of athletics and head baseball coach Larry Hiser as the 41st member of the Endicott Athletics Hall of Fame. Hiser, currently the Director of Athletics and Recreation at NCAA Division III Marietta College (Ohio), spent 13 years from 1994-2007 in his dual role as Endicott matured in the early years of their NCAA membership and developed into a program that offers 18 competitive varsity sports with top-notch facilities and a winning tradition.

Hiser’s Hall of Fame plaque will read as follows:

Larry Hiser
Induction Class of 2014

Larry Hiser served as Endicott’s Director of Athletics and head baseball coach for 13 years from 1994-2007.

As an administrator, Hiser’s leadership laid the foundation for success as the Endicott Athletics Department developed and matured in their NCAA Division III membership. During his tenure, the College began its co-education growth, athletically, through the adoption of men’s programs including baseball, basketball, lacrosse, and soccer in the mid-90’s. Later, the additions of cross country, golf, volleyball, and football, widely cut by other institutions across the country, and the construction of the Post Center further lifted Endicott into prominence.

Thirteen seasons in the dugout as skipper of the Endicott baseball team produced a GNAC title in 1997, four CCC Championships in 2000, 2003, 2004, and 2006, four NCAA Division III New England Regional Tournament appearances, and 282 career coaching victories. Hiser was twice named Coach of the Year, once by the GNAC in 1997 and again in 2000 in Endicott’s first season as members of the CCC. Two players under his tutelage, Bryan Caruso ’02 and Greg Allain ’05, went on to play in the professional ranks.

Hiser’s induction will take place on the Saturday morning of Homecoming Weekend at Endicott starting at 9:00 am in the Post Center’s MacDonald Gymnasium.

Following his induction, the Athletic Department will drop championship banners for eight conference winning teams, an ECAC championship, and a dance regional title from the 2013-14 academic year. Three 1,000-point scorers from the 2013-14 men’s and women’s basketball teams will have their names revealed as well as 10 1,000-kill volleyball alumni will unveil a new banner for their athletic achievement.

The Hall of Fame Induction and Banner Raising Ceremony jump starts an action-packed day of Endicott games in Beverly. Below is the list of varsity and club sport events over the course of the weekend.
