If you’re a current Endicott student-athlete and balancing school work, internship, practice, and games, you’re probably wondering what your post-graduation life will be like and if all the hard work you’re putting now is going to be worth it. Maybe you’re a prospective student-athlete in high school and thinking about whether Endicott is the right place for you or maybe you’re an alumnus of the College interested to find out what classmates are up to. Whatever your angle is, we’ve got insight into the whereabouts and happenings of some of our favorite Endicott student-athlete alumni.

This week, we got in touch with former Endicott men's lacrosse goalie Eric Hagarty '10 who parlayed an All-American collegiate lacrosse career into coaching and a position within the College's admission department. Hagarty's hard work and dedication to the game of lacrosse has also led to his entry into the professional ranks as a member of the Major League Lacrosse Boston Cannons squad. Being a student-athlete at Endicott has ultimately prepared him for the daunting task of juggling three time-consuming and demanding positions between the travel demands and importance of being a college admissions administrator, coaching a Gulls lacrosse team that contends on a national level year-in and year-out, and preparing himself physically to play against the top professional lacrosse talent in the country.

After limited action in his freshman season at Endicott, Hagarty took over between the pipes and instantly became of NCAA Division III's top goaltenders. In 2008, Hagarty led the nation in goals against average (5.43) and ultimately was named a USILA All-American Honorable Mention after earning CCC and ECAC New England Defensive Player of the Year honors. Hagarty would repeat that same exact trifecta in a 2010 season that saw the Gulls capture the 2010 CCC Championship and reach the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Hagarty would finish his career with three All-American trophies (2008-10), two Player of the Year awards from both the CCC and ECAC, three All-CCC and All-Region honors from several different organizations. For his career, Hagarty would average 6.74 goals again and a .609 save percentage with a total of 584 saves and a 48-14 all-time record.

Find out more about Eric Hagarty from our brief question and answer session with him.

Eric Hagarty '10 is Endicott's all-time wins leader (48) as he led the Gulls to a CCC title and NCAA Second Round berth in 2010.

How did your major, classes, professors, and education at Endicott contribute to your post-graduation career?

As a business major, the combination of classes and applied learning through internship showed me the theoretical and practical sides of my major from freshman through senior year. Taking business classes as a freshman gave me my first taste of what I am good at and what I am not. By the time I hit senior year, I had a great sense for where I was going.

What internships did you participate in at Endicott?

I completed three internships while at Endicott: Major League Lacrosse, Boston Snacks Foods, Inc. - Operations Intern, and Kaspersky Lab - Sales Intern

How did your internships at Endicott contribute to your post-graduation career?

As a student and athlete at Endicott I was able to experience the College in many ways. I truly appreciated the educational experience through internship and classes but also the culture of Endicott and the people who are here. Internship provided an opportunity to explore three unique career paths and I learned that if I am going to be part of an organization, I have to believe in the product and the people I work with, more than anything. I had three great internships and upon graduation, I knew what I wanted and also the strengths which I possessed.

What were some of your most memorable experiences as a student-athlete at Endicott?

The culture and the people of Endicott Athletics, the NCAA Tournament appearances, and being ranked sixth in the country in NCAA Division III.

Are you still playing your sport either competitively or recreationally?

Yes, I am entering my fourth season as a goalie on the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse.

Do you maintain contact with Endicott or athletic department (i.e. communication with former coach, Alumni Association, Young Alumni)? If so, how are you still involved with Endicott?

Yes, I am entering my fifth season as an assistant coach for the Endicott men's lacrosse program in charge of the team's defense and goalies.
