2014-15 CCC All-Sports Women's Trophy Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has released the final tallies for the 2014-15 All-Sports Trophies. The Endicott men’s athletics programs have claimed the 2014-15 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's All-Sports Trophy with a final score of 8.14. The Endicott women’s programs were just shy of claiming the title coming in .44 points behind the leader, Roger Williams, who captured the CCC Women’s All-Sports Trophy.

The all-sports trophies became a tradition in the CCC last season and is awarded annually to the schools which perform the best across the board in league competition. Points are awarded based on CCC championships and CCC runner-up finishes at the conference tournament followed by the regular season finish of the remaining teams. In each sport, the CCC champion will receive 10 points and the CCC runner-up will receive nine points. The regular season finish will be used to determine points for the remaining teams in each sport from eight points down including all ties. After the total points are calculated, points will then be divided by the number of CCC sports that the school sponsors to arrive at an average score.

Endicott men posted the highest total average of points, 8.14, in the conference to claim the second annual CCC All-Sports Trophy for the men. The Gulls captured championship titles in lacrosse and basketball, a runner-up finish in golf, and third place finishes in baseball and tennis to take complete ownership of the CCC’s Men’s All-Sports Trophy.

Roger Williams posted an average of 7.71 points for second, while Gordon finished third with 6.83 in the 2014-15 men’s trophy race. Western New England finished fourth with 6.42 points, followed in order by Nichols (6.28), Wentworth (5.71), the University of New England (4.80), Curry (4.40), Salve Regina (4.33) and Eastern Nazarene (3.66).

For the women, Endicott was just shy of taking home the rights for the 2014-15 women’s trophy, as the Gulls recorded an average of 7.75 points, while Roger Williams posted 8.19 points to claim their first All-Sports trophy.  Leading the charge for Endicott's women's programs was the tennis team that claimed their fourth consecutive CCC title in 2014-15.  Softball and field hockey both finished as runner-ups while soccer and lacrosse finished in a tie for third.  The Unversity of New England was right behind Endicott (7.71), followed by Western New England (6.81), Salve Regina (6.13), Gordon (5.19), Nichols (4.14), Wentworth (4.08), Curry (4.07) and Eastern Nazarene (3.58).

This is the second year that the CCC will be awarding all-sports trophies.  In the 2013-14 season, Endicott's women's team finished first while the men finished as runner-ups.  The final standings were determined on the basis of each school's finish at the championship and the regular season standings in the eight CCC women's sports: basketball, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball and the seven CCC men’s sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer and tennis.

The 2014-15 Men’s All-Sports trophy will find its way to Beverly during the fall of 2015.
