Cameron Randles

Cameron Randles

Cameron Randles, a sophomore from Canyon Country, Calif., has been chosen for the focus on this installment of the "Endicott Student-Athelte Spotlight" for this efforts both on and off the ice. Randles is a Business Management major and is a member of the Endicott men's ice team. The sophomore finished up his first season with the team scoring three goals, dishing seven assists for 10 points in 19 games played. We were able to catch up with the sophomore and ask him a few questions for the Spotlight.

Why did you choose to be a Division III student-athlete?
I chose to be a DIII athlete so I could focus both on school and hockey. At this level of competition it becomes a job anywhere you go but DIII offers you the time to focus on academics while still giving you the ability to have a social life.

What do you like most about being a student-athlete at Endicott?
The atmosphere here at Endicott is amazing! We are a smaller school yet we have a big campus feel with all the support from the student body and faculty members. Another amazing part about being a student athlete here has been all the great people that I have met.

What are some of the greatest lessons you have learned from being a student-athlete?
The greatest lesson I have learned as a student athlete is to manage my time wisely. Also that the people you come in contact with can become a major part of your life and can become your best friends.

Who have been the most influence people in your athletic career?
My mom hands down! She has sacrificed so much for me to be where I am at today!

How would your teammates describe you?
My teammates would probably describe me as a funny kid who's always laughing, motivating, and a genuinely caring person.

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event rituals? If so, what are they?
Yeah I have a few. 1. I like to get to the rink early so that I can just chill before I start to warm up. 2. When I'm getting dressed I always have to put my left skate on first then my right, then once I have my skates on I tape my sticks. 3. I have to listen to the same song before I get on the ice every time Roy Jones Jr- Can't Be Touched. 4. I say a quick prayer then go out and play the game.

What is your greatest sports moment?
Winning the Silver Sticks Tournament in San Jose, CA when I was 16 and getting our team photo in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Which public figure (athlete, politician, entertainer, etc) would you most like to meet and what one question would you ask them?
This is a tough question I could not just narrow it down to one person. I have two public figures that I would most like to meet and they are Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan. The question that I would ask both of them would be: How do you stay humble?

What internships have you completed (or are a part of now)? What benefit have you gotten out of them?
I actually have not completed a internship yet but I am hoping to get one with the Boston Bruins or with the Red Sox over the summer.

If you have been involved in community service projects, what project has been the most rewarding and why?
Yes at the beginning of the school year our team was involved with The Miracle League of The North Shore. We went to an elementary school and played baseball with children who have special needs. It’s the best feeling in the world to be able to give back. The joy on the kids’ faces is priceless and I love being part of someone's happiness.

Name three things on your "bucket list".
1. Buy my mom a house 2. Go sky diving 3. Own a Siberian white tiger

Where do you see yourself in 10 years after graduation? What is your dream job?

10 years after graduation I still see myself in the hockey field either coaching or a general manger of professional team.

What would you say to someone currently in high school who is considering attending Endicott?
Do it! This is an amazing school filled with even better people! Coming to Endicott is one of the best decisions that I have made.

Is there something about you that we don't know? Tell is something special about yourself that we haven't asked!
I love odd colored socks with crazy designs!
