Chris Lipscomb

Chris Lipscomb

Chris Lipscomb, a sophomore from West Springfield, Mass., has been chosen for the focus of this installment of the “Endicott Student-Athlete Spotlight” for his works both on the field/court, and even more important, off of it.  Chris is a Sport Management major that has been a member of the football and men's basketball teams for the past two years.  In his first year on the football team, the Gulls won their second NEFC title in program history.  We were able to catch up with the sophomore and ask him a few questions for the Spotlight.

Why did you choose to be a Division III student-athlete?
The reason I chose Division III was because I could not decide what sport I wanted to play in college, and Division III gave me the opportunity to play both football and basketball.

What do you like most about being a student-athlete at Endicott?
The people. We have great fans, coaches, players, and everyone involved in the athletic department make being a student-athlete at Endicott College an awesome experience.

What are some of the greatest lessons you have learned from being a student-athlete?
The biggest lesson I have learned from being a student-athlete is how important it is to set priorities and manage time so you can still enjoy all the things regular college students enjoy.

Who have been the most influence people in your athletic career?
My whole family and my high school football coach.

How would your teammates describe you?
I would hope by saying that I'm hardworking, competitive, and have the teams best interest in mind but I guess you would have to ask them.

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event rituals? If so, what are they?
For football I have to come out of the locker room last, then I stand alone while I pray during the National Anthem; the same prayer every time. Right after I jump as high as I can once and I'm ready to go. For basketball, I have to get dressed the same way every time and then say the same prayer during the National Anthem.

What is your greatest sports moment?
Starting in and winning the conference championship in football my freshman year.

Which public figure (athlete, politician, entertainer, etc) would you most like to meet and what one question would you ask them?
I would want to meet Bill Belichick. I would ask him why he never looks happy win or lose.

What internships have you completed (or are a part of now)? What benefit have you gotten out of them?
Holyoke Blue Sox. They are a College Summer League baseball organization. The biggest benefit I got from that internship was how to handle all different kinds of people when they have complaints or problems.

If you have been involved in community service projects, what project has been the most rewarding and why?
Reading to elementary school kids in Beverly was a really rewarding experience. I remember how excited I used to get when I was them and someone came in and spent time with us. It was awesome to bring those kids the same excitement that I got as a kid.

Name three things on your "bucket list".
1.Travel the world. 2. Go zip lining. 3. Drive cross country with my closest friends.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years after graduation? What is your dream job?
I want to be starting a family of my own that I can support with my career.

What would you say to someone currently in high school who is considering attending Endicott?
Join the flock!
